Moong Dal Curry is an easy, healthy, tasty Indian recipe. It is called Cherupayar Curry or Payaru curry in malayalam. It is a simple curry recipe flavoured with coconut. It is a very tasty and delicious old tradition curry recipe to try with puttu, rice or chappathi.

Soaking time: 1 hour

Cooking Time:  15 – 20 Minutes

Servings: 2 – 3 persons

Ingredients

Moong Dal / Cherupayar: 1 cup

Onion: 1 medium

Garlic: 5 – 6 flakes

Coconut: ¼ cup grated

Red Chilly powder: ½ teaspoon

Turmeric: ½ teaspoon

Cumin seeds: ½ teaspoon

Mustard: ½ teaspoon

Oil: 2 tablespoon

Curry Leaves: 1 string

Salt: as required


Method to Prepare Moong Dal Curry

1. Soak Moong dal for 1 hour.

2. Cook moong dal with chopped onion, salt,  garlic, red chilly powder, turmeric powder, coconut, cumin seeds & salt. (3-4 whistles)

3. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard.

4. When it splutter add coconut, curry leaves & sauté well till golden brown.

5. Pour this above curry.

Your Moong Dal Curry or Cherupayar Curry or Payaru Curry is ready to serve. Serve with puttu or steamed rice or with chappathi.
