Urulakizhangu Pirattiyathu / Mashed Potato Stir Fry / Potato Podimas is a very tasty side dish for chappathi. This recipe can also be served along with steamed rice. It can be made easily with readily available ingredients at home.

Ingredients

Potato – 2 (medium)

Onion – 1 (big)

Garlic – 10 clove (crushed))

Tomato – 1 number (chopped)

Potato – 1 number (chopped)

Curry leaves – 1 sprig

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Green Chilly – 1 number

Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp (chopped)

Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp

Salt – as per taste

Oil – 2 tbsp


Method to Prepare Urulakizhangu Pirattiyathu / Mashed Potato Stir Fry / Potato Podimas

1. Chop potatoes, boil it and cook. Keep aside when cooked for cooling and then mash it.

2. Take a pan, pour oil. When oil is hot add mustard seeds.

3. Then add chopped onion and green chilly and saute well for few seconds.

4. Add curry leaves and crushed garlic and saute well till raw smell goes.

5. Add chopped tomatoes to it and mix well till mushy, add turmeric powder and salt then add potatoes and chopped coriander leaves and close with lid.

6. Keep it on low flame and cook for few minutes.

Serve hot.
