Pachadi is a traditional South Indian side dish for Sadhya. It is a South Indian version of raita. It is a tasty unavoidable side dish for sadhya like Onam Sadhya.
Pachadi is a combination of yogurt, with other ingredients. Depends upon ingredients or vegetables or fruits used in the recipe, different variations are available. The following is a simple method which uses simple common ingredients. It is a tasty and delicious vegetarian side dish recipe to try at home to serve with steamed rice.
Preparation Time: 10 – 15 Minutes

Servings: 3 persons
Main Ingredients: Curd (Yogurt)
Cuisine: South Indian, Kerala
Curd (Yogurt): 2 cup
Shallots/ Kochulli: 5 number
Green chili: 1 number
Ginger: 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic: ½ teaspoon
Curry leaves: 3 – 4 leaves
Mustard seeds: ½ teaspoon
Oil: 2 teaspoon
Salt: as required
Method to Prepare Pachadi
1. Finely chop shallots, green chili, ginger & garlic.
2. Heat oil in pan splutter mustard add finely chopped shallots, green chili, ginger & garlic. Sauté well till onions are transparent.
3. Add curry leaves & salt. Mix well.
4. Add curd to this mix & sauté well for 2 – 3 minutes.
5. Switch off flame.
Pachadi is ready to serve. Enjoy this side dish with your steamed rice.
